Connect With Your Customers | Force0six

con·nec·tion

kəˈnekSH(ə)n/

  • a relationship in which a person, thing, or idea is linked or associated with something else.

  • people with whom one has social or professional contact or to whom one is related, especially those with influence and able to offer one help.

  • the action of linking one thing with another.

I like my customers! I like what they do and how they do it. I am interested in helping them succeed. I am empathetic when they don't feel encouraged about a product or a service. I feel what I am doing for them is important. It's synergy. I am connected.

This world is technology driven, transforming digitally and becoming more and more virtual. You can engage with prospects and customers that have offices globally while maybe never meeting them face to face. You may work with your software development team who is physically located on the east coast while you reside on the west coast. Offshore teams are the new normal. Talented resources are dispersed but converge through technologies like Skype and Microsoft Teams. Our projects are completed with our customers while having 1000's of miles between us and them – and I remain connected.

Why? Because it feels good to connect.

Where you may lack a physical connection in some instances due to geography or other, you can build multiple connections practically, technically, emotionally or intellectually. I believe we are wired to connect. I don't focus on being connected solely in order to extract some form of payment and/or other resources from people – my connection needs no ulterior motive. In fact, the only connections that work will be the ones that you truly care about.

Customer connection is key | Force0six

Be genuine with your customer. Pay attention to their needs. Be persistent. It's your job to be persistent! It all comes back to helping others. If you spent 100% of your waking hours thinking about how you can help absolutely everyone you come in contact with – from the Janitorial Service who needs SEO and Pay Per Click Ads, to the top executives in your industry -- you will find everything else tends to take care of itself. The world will suddenly be in your corner.

Here are some quick tips to build your connections:

1. Connect First

Whenever you interact with a customer, first introduce yourself. People connect with people, not nameless, faceless robots. Then find out about their day, comment on the weather, or ask about their favorite something! It will fulfill the hope that they are doing business with a company that values them as an individual, more than just counting their dollars.

2. Always Respond Quickly

When a person leaves a voicemail message or sends you an email, respond promptly. Even something as simple as “We just got your email. Give us a day to look into it,” will show your customer you are engaged. The longer it takes to get back to a customer, the less important the customer feels.

3. Promote Exceptional Customer Success

Turn your team into company ambassadors and brand advocates who deliver on your brand promise and business strategy at every single customer touch point. One of the most powerful tools an organization has to connect with its customers is its team. Promote that success and create the best experience you can with them. Whether it be virtual, in the office, or even at happy hour.

4. Sincerity And Transparency Are Key

Your company culture will reflect on the way your employees do business with customers. That’s why it’s imperative to support trust and transparency among your internal team. Employees aren’t the only ones demanding transparency. Customers want to trust that companies are putting their needs first. Once mutual trust is established, customers will be more open to providing feedback. These interactions will allow companies to better understand where they exceed customer expectations, as well as identify areas of improvement.
